Over the past six years, I’ve had the privilege of being part of the ORHL as both a parent and a coach, and I can honestly say it has provided an exceptional experience for my son and our family.
Kevin and Diane’s passion for hockey is evident in everything they do, but what truly sets them apart is their commitment to creating a player-first, family-focused environment where young athletes can thrive both on and off the ice.
The ORHL provides all the benefits of a highly competitive hockey league while never losing sight of what youth sports should truly be about. Hockey teaches young people invaluable life lessons—hard work, perseverance, resilience, teamwork, accountability, and how to win and lose with character. The ORHL embraces those lessons while ensuring that the joy of the game remains at the center of the experience.
What I appreciate most about the ORHL is its ability to keep the focus on the experience young athletes are having today. In highly competitive youth sports, there can sometimes be a tendency for adults to become so focused on future outcomes that the present experience gets overshadowed. The pressure to maximize potential, optimize development, and prepare for what might come years down the road can sometimes take away from what makes sports meaningful in the first place.
The ORHL has always felt different to me. While it absolutely challenges players to compete, improve, and strive for excellence, it never loses sight of the fact that these are still young athletes. The league recognizes that developing a lifelong love of the game, building friendships, creating memories, and learning valuable life lessons are every bit as important as wins, losses, and future opportunities.
Kevin and Diane have built a culture that understands the true value of youth sports. Their focus isn’t simply on producing better hockey players; it’s on helping young people grow into confident, resilient, respectful individuals while enjoying the journey along the way. They understand that the vast majority of these kids won’t remember every score or every standing years from now, but they will remember their teammates, their coaches, the friendships they built, the challenges they overcame, and the experiences they shared.
That balance between competition and enjoyment is what makes the ORHL such a special place for families. It gives young athletes the opportunity to challenge themselves in a highly competitive environment while still preserving the fun, excitement, and love of the game that brought them to the rink in the first place.
I am incredibly grateful for everything the ORHL has provided for my son and our family. Under Kevin and Diane’s leadership, the league has created an environment where competition and character development go hand in hand, where families feel welcomed and valued, and where kids are encouraged to be present, enjoy the journey, and make memories that will last a lifetime.
I would highly recommend the ORHL to any family looking for a competitive hockey experience that never loses sight of what matters most.

Diane and Kevin provide excellence in communication, solid events , great vision to accommodate players needs who may not be able to play up at their age , no non sense at rinks by parents who ruin the game for the players they step in and correct it! The ORHL is family and in any family you need honesty and integrity! Diane is the salt of the earth human leading your players operations and the man who is at all events and leads by his professional attributes is no one better than Kevin! Thank you for allowing us to be part of a great family lead by Diane and Kevin! PS~ we have been in the ORHL since 2014 and would not change a thing! Parents support good people as your son’s hockey days are limited so we believe in supporting good people always!
